FAIRFIELD, Ohio - Police had to briefly shut down a gas station on Ohio 4 Tuesday evening after customers waiting to fill up on $3.14 a gallon gas became unruly and argued over whose turn it was at the pumps, according to Fairfield police and fire emergency communication reports.

No injuries or arrests were reported in the 5 p.m. melee at Swifty Service Station, 4548 Dixie Highway, a dispatcher said this morning. The station reopened about 7 p.m. after police gained order.

Police were called to the station after cars lining up spilled into the street, blocking traffic, while customers argued with each other and employees, reports state.

Gas prices have soared this week across the nation, topping out at $3.45 most places in Greater Cincinnati, although some gas stations in West Chester Township sold it at $3.19 Tuesday

With a title like "chaos everywhere" of course I had to read the entry. That is crazy, but doesn't surprise me. I have heard of similar stories before - of people lining up to get cheaper gas, and the station being overwhelmed by unruly customers.
